About BirthdayGIF

BirthdayGIF makes animated birthday GIFs with the person's name drawn into the picture. Type a name, pick a look and a mood, and in about half a minute you have something to send on WhatsApp, iMessage, Messenger or a text.

Why it exists

Most birthday GIFs say the same thing to everyone. The ones that promise a name usually paste it on a stock picture in a plain font. We wanted the name to be part of the artwork: in the lettering, on the cake, moving with the scene, and spelled the way you typed it, accents and all.

Who makes it

BirthdayGIF is built and run by Fanly, an independent developer based in Sihui, Zhaoqing, Guangdong, China. It is a small, one-person project. If something is broken or a GIF came out wrong, email contact@birthdaygif.net. Fanly reads every message.

How the GIFs are made

Every GIF on the site, both the ready-made ones and the ones you make, is drawn by an AI image model: GPT Image 2.6, which we use through kie.ai. That is why each GIF is marked "Made with AI".

• The pictures are illustrations, not photos. We do not make realistic portraits of real people or use well-known cartoon characters.
• The ready-made GIFs were picked from many attempts and reviewed before they went on the site. GIFs you make yourself are not reviewed first, so look at yours before sending it.
• The same name with the same look and mood is drawn once and then shared, so a popular name comes back instantly.

Where your name goes

The name you type is sent to kie.ai to draw the picture, and the finished GIF is stored on Cloudflare at a public link. We do not ask for your email or account to make free GIFs. The full details are in the Privacy Policy.

Free, and how it pays for itself

Each new GIF costs us money to draw, so everyone gets two free a day. If you need more, GIF packs are a one-time payment, and unused GIFs stay in your account for as long as BirthdayGIF is running. See the Terms of Service for the details and the refund rules.
